Lawrence Bell, 25, has been arrested in connection with the 2023 murder of 23-year-old Christopher Griffin, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO). This arrest comes after months of investigation into the tragic events of July 27, 2023.

On that day, officers responded to reports of gunfire on Winthrop Street, where Griffin was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives immediately launched a thorough investigation, gathering evidence and working closely with the State Attorney’s Office to identify a suspect.
Bell, who was initially taken into custody in Georgia on unrelated charges, was later extradited to Jacksonville. Last week, he was booked into the Duval County Jail and now faces charges of second-degree murder.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the public and partnering law enforcement agencies for their assistance in resolving the case. They reiterated their dedication to ensuring justice for victims of violent crimes.
Griffin’s family, devastated by his loss, has been awaiting answers since his death. This arrest marks a significant step forward in their pursuit of justice.
